In Tysons Corner, Virginia optimized signal timing lead to a 9 percent reduction in fuel consumption.
In May 1999, optimization of signal timing at 40 intersections was completed in the Tysons Corner area of Virginia. Estimates indicated the system reduced fuel consumption by approximately nine percent decreasing annual emissions by approximately 134,600 kilograms.
